Tournament Bracket Generator

Draw a single-elimination tournament bracket for 2–64 players or teams, with byes and seeding handled for you.

One per line (or separated by commas), 2–64 names.

Single elimination: lose once and you are out. When the number of players is not a power of two, some players get a bye in the first round. Your list never leaves your browser.

About this tool

Enter the players or teams, one per line, and get a knockout bracket from the first round to the final. If the number is not a power of two, top seeds get byes in round one. Choose a random draw or seed the bracket in the order you entered, so the top two can only meet in the final.

Frequently asked questions

Always one fewer than the number of players, because every match eliminates exactly one player and all but the champion must be knocked out. 16 players play 15 matches; 12 players play 11.

A bracket needs a power of two (2, 4, 8, 16, 32, 64) slots. With 12 players the bracket has 16 slots, so 4 players get a bye — they go straight to round two — and the other 8 play 4 first-round matches.

With “Seed in my order” the first name is seed 1. Seeds are placed in the standard order (1 v 16, 8 v 9, 4 v 13 …), so the strongest players cannot meet early and seeds 1 and 2 can only meet in the final. Byes go to the top seeds.

The number of rounds is the power of two of the bracket size: 8 slots need 3 rounds (quarter-finals, semi-finals, final), 16 need 4 and 64 need 6.
