Round Robin Generator

Create a round robin schedule where every team plays every other team — single or double, with byes for odd numbers.

One per line (or separated by commas), 2–40 names.

Everyone meets everyone exactly once (twice in a double round robin). The first-named team in each match can be treated as the home team. Your list never leaves your browser.

About this tool

Paste your teams or players, one per line, and get a complete league schedule round by round. Everyone meets everyone once (or twice in a double round robin with home and away swapped). With an odd number of teams, one team sits out each round. Keep your order or shuffle the draw.

Frequently asked questions

With n teams there are n × (n − 1) ÷ 2 matches: 6 teams play 15 matches, 8 teams 28 and 10 teams 45. A double round robin, where everyone meets twice, has twice as many.

With an even number of teams, n − 1 rounds where everyone plays every round: 6 teams need 5 rounds of 3 matches. With an odd number you need n rounds, because one team sits out each round — 5 teams need 5 rounds of 2 matches.

A bye means a team has no match that round. With an odd number of teams the generator adds an empty slot, so exactly one team rests per round and every team rests exactly once in a single round robin.

It uses the circle (Berger) method: one team stays in place and the others rotate one position each round, which guarantees every pair meets exactly once. In a double round robin the second half repeats the rounds with home and away swapped.
