Pressure Converter — bar to psi

Convert bar to psi, psi to bar, kPa, hPa (mbar), atm, mmHg and inHg — for tyres, weather and more.

About this tool

Enter a pressure, choose the unit you have and the unit you want. You get the exact conversion and the same pressure in every unit at once. Uses the exact definitions: 1 bar = 100 kPa, 1 psi = 6.894757 kPa, 1 atm = 101.325 kPa and 1 mmHg = 133.322 Pa.

Frequently asked questions

Divide by 14.504, because 1 bar = 14.5038 psi (1 psi = 6,894.757 Pa). So 32 psi = 2.21 bar and 35 psi = 2.41 bar. From bar to psi you multiply by 14.504: 2.5 bar = 36.3 psi.

Use the pressure your car maker gives, usually on a label in the driver’s door frame or fuel flap and in the owner’s manual. Check the tyres cold, before driving. The converter turns the label value into the unit your pump shows, e.g. 2.2 bar = 31.9 psi = 220 kPa.

The standard atmosphere is defined as 101,325 Pa = 1,013.25 hPa (mbar) = 1.01325 bar = 14.696 psi = 760 mmHg. Weather maps use hPa; low pressure systems are often below 1,000 hPa.

Tyre and pump gauges show gauge pressure — the pressure above the surrounding air (sometimes written psig or barg). Absolute pressure adds about 1.013 bar (14.7 psi) at sea level. Convert both the same way; just do not mix them.
