Percentage Calculator
Percentages describe a part of a whole in hundredths, which makes them easy to compare across different totals. This calculator handles the three questions people ask most often: finding a percentage of a number, working out what percentage one number is of another, and measuring the increase or decrease between two values. How to use it: pick the calculation mode that matches your question, enter the two numbers, and press Calculate. Only the fields relevant to your chosen mode are shown, and the result comes with a plain-language explanation and the formula that produced it. The formulas behind each mode are simple. A percentage of a number is (percent ÷ 100) × value. To find what percent one number is of another, divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. Percentage change divides the difference between the new and original value by the original value, then multiplies by 100 — a positive result is an increase, a negative one a decrease.
