Holiday Pay Calculator (Norway)
Calculate Norwegian holiday pay (feriepenger) at 10.2 % or 12 %, including the extra 2.3 % for employees over 60 up to 6 G.
An estimate under the Norwegian Holiday Act. Your employment contract or collective agreement decides the rate, and some payments (expense allowances, benefits in kind) are not part of the holiday pay basis.
About this tool
Enter last year’s pay (the holiday pay basis), choose 10.2 % under the Holiday Act or 12 % for five weeks of holiday under a collective agreement, and say whether you turn 60 during the holiday year. The calculator shows the ordinary holiday pay, the 60+ supplement of 2.3 percentage points on income up to 6 G (G = 136,549 kr from 1 May 2026), the total and the effective rate.
Frequently asked questions
At least 10.2 % of the holiday pay basis under the Holiday Act, which covers four weeks and one day (25 working days) of holiday. With five weeks of holiday under a collective agreement, the rate is usually 12 %. On a basis of 550,000 kr that is 56,100 kr at 10.2 % and 66,000 kr at 12 %.
Employees who turn 60 during the holiday year get six extra working days of holiday and 2.3 percentage points extra holiday pay, but only on income up to 6 G — 819,294 kr from 1 May 2026. That gives 12.5 % or 14.3 % under 6 G. On 1,000,000 kr at 12 %: 120,000 kr + 2.3 % × 819,294 kr = 138,843.76 kr.
Pay for work paid out in the earning year (normally the previous calendar year): salary, sick pay paid by the employer for up to 16 days per sick period, and bonuses and commission based on your own work. Expense allowances, benefits in kind, holiday pay already paid and fixed pay that runs regardless of holiday are not included.
Usually in June of the holiday year, on the last ordinary payday before the holiday, instead of the ordinary salary for the holiday weeks. NAV pays its holiday pay in the second half of May. According to the Norwegian Tax Administration, the 2.3 % supplement for employees over 60 is subject to tax withholding, while ordinary holiday pay is not.
