Draft Order Generator — Snake Draft

Draw a random draft order and get every round laid out — snake, linear or third-round reversal — with overall pick numbers.

One per line (or separated by commas), 2–32 participants.

How many picks each participant gets.

The order is drawn in your browser with the Web Crypto API; the list never leaves your device. Take a screenshot to share the result.

About this tool

Enter the participants, one per line, choose the number of rounds and the draft type. The generator shuffles the names into a random order (or keeps your order) and lists every round with overall pick numbers. In a snake draft the order reverses every round; in a linear draft it stays the same; with third-round reversal rounds 2 and 3 both run backwards. Use it for fantasy leagues, captains picking teams, or anyone taking turns to choose.

Frequently asked questions

A draft where the order reverses every round. With four players A, B, C, D, round 1 goes A, B, C, D and round 2 goes D, C, B, A, so whoever picks last in one round picks first in the next. It evens out the advantage of the first pick: A gets picks 1 and 8, D gets picks 4 and 5.

A snake draft where the order reverses again at the start of round 3, so rounds 2 and 3 both run backwards, and from round 4 the normal snake continues. With 12 teams, the team with the last pick in round 1 (pick 12) also gets the first pick in round 3 (pick 25). It is meant to soften the advantage of the very first pick.

Participants × rounds. Ten managers drafting 15 rounds make 150 picks. The overall pick number of a slot is (round − 1) × participants + position in the round, so in a 10-team snake draft the 3rd pick of round 2 is pick 13.

Yes. Enter the captains, set the rounds to the number of players each team gets, and choose snake: with two captains the order goes A, B, B, A, A, B … instead of A, B, A, B, which keeps the teams more even. Choose “keep my order” if the captains are already decided.
