Unit Price Calculator
Compare two products by price per gram, millilitre or item to see which is the better deal.
About this tool
Enter the price and size of two products — in the same unit, such as grams, millilitres or items. The calculator shows the unit price of each, which is cheaper and by how much, so you can spot when a bigger pack is not really a bargain.
Frequently asked questions
Divide the price by the quantity. A 500 g pack for 3.00 costs 0.006 per gram (0.60 per 100 g); a 1 kg pack for 5.00 costs 0.005 per gram (0.50 per 100 g), so the larger pack is cheaper.
No. Multi-buys and promotions on smaller sizes often make them cheaper per unit, which is why comparing unit prices is worthwhile.
Convert them first so both are in the same unit: 1 kg = 1,000 g, 1 litre = 1,000 ml and 1 lb = 16 oz.
The saving is the difference between the two unit prices divided by the higher one. Paying 0.50 instead of 0.60 per 100 g is a 16.7% saving.
