About this tool

Playing the dice game at the office party or with family? Choose calm, wild or mixed rules, add fun challenges if you like and set the timer. Frequently asked questions

Everyone brings one or more wrapped gifts to a pile in the middle. Players take turns rolling the die and do what the rule card says for that number – a 6 on this card always takes a gift from the pile. When the pile is empty, keep playing so gifts move around the table until the timer rings, then everyone opens the gifts in front of them.

Around 10–20 minutes suits most groups once the pile is empty. One common Norwegian version runs 15 minutes of swapping wrapped gifts and then 5 more minutes where opened gifts can be taken, but not from someone who has only one left. The generator lets you set anything from 1 to 120 minutes.

One gift each is enough for a short game; two or three each make a longer, wilder game. Agree on a price limit in the invitation so the gifts are similar in value – around $20 is a common budget for a gift swap.

Yes. In the classic Norwegian version (pakkeleken) you roll two dice and only take a gift when both show the same number. To combine that with this card, act only on doubles and use the rule for the number on the dice – double 6 then takes a gift from the pile.
